Benefits of Membership

Media Network Idaho:

  • Meets at least twice a year, with a state convention in the spring and a fall workshop. In addition to the opportunity for personal contact and network building, these meetings provide workshops and speakers on a wide range of communications topics.
  • Sends representatives to the NFPW National Conference, which is held in the fall of each year in a different state. (Idaho has hosted two national conferences.) Outstanding agendas make these conferences exciting, educational and fun.
  • Hosts the annual MNI/NFPW Communications Contest. Entries range from print media to photography to electronic media. First place winners in the state contest go on to compete at the national level.
  • Honors a member every other year with the Communicator of Achievement award. The award recognizes outstanding achievement and professionalism in communications. The individual selected may also compete for the NFPW Communicator of Achievement award.
  • Sponsors the annual Gladys Swank High School Contest. Winners receive cash prizes, the top senior winner receives a scholarship and the school sweepstakes winner receives an award. First place winners are eligible for the national contest.
  • Offers the Ann Adams Scholarship to a junior or senior college student in Idaho majoring in any aspect of communications.
  • Publishes a newsletter with information on upcoming events, contests, awards, new members, activities of current members and other news of general interest to MNI members.
  • Promotes its members with this web site by showcasing their accomplishments and providing links to their published work through the Bookstore.
  • Provides opportunites for professional growth, community involvement and networking. We hope you will share with us your enthusiasm, expertise and skills to help improve MNI, NFPW, your profession and your community.
